December Joyful Stars Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Joyful Stars December Blog Hop. Although I keep checking the calendar - the weather almost fells like Spring!   This is a circular blog so you can just hop along and when you get back to the first blog you visited, you will know you have seen all the projects.  Joyce has the complete list of hoppers on her blog here.
If you arrived here from Donna's Blog, then you are on the right track. I am still enjoying the beautiful White Pines paper packet.  It is not only useful for Christmas cards and layouts, but winter/snow items too.  Here is a card called a circle side step card.  It is not quite what I envisioned when I started - but this is quite often the case for me.  I have an idea that evolves and ends up somewhere completely different than what I originally imagined.  But that is part of the fun for me.

The card is actually quite large.  The original circle was cut in the White Pines blue background and texture paper and was 6 3/4".  The completed card is about 7" x 6 1/4" and definitely will not fit in a standard envelope.  However, I really like the dimension created by the steps.  The snowman is cut using the new Artistry cartridge.  He is on page 47 of the booklet and he is cut at 4".  The sign was also cut using the font from the Artisty cartridge.  The accents (ornament, deer and bird) are from the coordinating White Pines Complements.  The complements contain so many cute animals and great accents for both cards and scrapbook pages.
Looking at the card now, I think it would make a beautiful "Baby's First Christmas" card.  The ornament could have the baby's name and the sign could say "First Christmas".

Here is another photo - I purposely made the snowman large because I planned to use a bow tie from the "Fundamentals Assortment".  However, after I made the snowman, I could not find the bow ties!
Crisis averted - I finally found them so now Mr. Snowman is properly dressed!  BTW, the addition of this bow tie is for Joyce and Little Debi who are always trying to "bling up" my cards!

Now it is time to hop on over to Yvonne's blog. Yvonne is hopping with us for the first time and  I would like to welcome her!

Joyful Stars November Blog Hop

Welcome to our November Blog Hop.  I'm so happy you can join us this month.
If you arrived here from  Lori's Blog, then you are on the right track.
Joyce and I spent the weekend at the Edison Stamp, Scrap Art Tour so I have not had much creative time lately.  However, Joyce made cute little votive trees and one of the customers asked it if was cut using one of the Close To My Heart Exclusive Cartridges. Since it is a pattern that Joyce created on the Explore, I decided to try to make one from the pyramid tree on the Artiste Cartridge.  So here is the tree from Artiste made in White Pines decorated using poinsettias on page 80 of the booklet.  It is found on page 53 of the booklet - it is 3-D Object cut at 5 1/2".    The photo is a little dark because I wanted the tea light to show through the little holes that are punched in the tree.

Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Now it is time for you to hop over to Joyce's Blog.

Birthday Cards

I was in need of some birthday cards and when I came across this one at Crafts By Patty, it inspired me to get creating.  Don't you just love being inspired to actually create (instead of just pinning)?  The colors are so bright and fresh - just perfect for a birthday card.

This is the card I made for my niece - it is her 13th birthday!  The numbers were cut from the Artistry cartridge.  The stamp set is D1618 Build-a-Cake and the colors are Hollyhock, Pear, Glacier and Canary.
The next card is scraplifted from the inspiration card at Stamps By Patty.  It uses the same colors and the Build-a-Cake stamp set.
Hope you are inspired to create something for someone special.

Joyful Stars October Blog Hop

Happy Fall and welcome to the Joyful Stars Blog Hop.  We are happy you are joining us this month.  If you have come from Marie's Blog then you are on the right track.  It is a circular hop, so all you need to do is follow the link until you get back to the blog where you started.  If you get lost along the way, just hop on over to Joyce's Blog where you will find a list of all the participants. I have enjoyed experimenting with the new Close To My Heart Watercolors and Watercolor Paper.  The paper is great because it is so much thinner than what you can purchase in stores.  It works great for layering on both cards and scrapbook pages.

The card base is Kraft Cardstock and the leaves were cut from the new Watercolor Paper using the Artistry cartridge.  Then the leaves were colored using the Watercolor Paints (Z3132).  It was fun to just mix the colors and see what the leaves looked like after they dried.  There is a piece of the discontinued Burlap Ribbon in the background for even more texture.

Joyce and I were creating together a few weeks ago to get ready for the York Stamp Show and we decided to use the new Fallen Leaves (B1492) stamp set.  We stamped the leaves in Cocoa ink and "watercolored" over top.  You can see that the veins in the leaf got a bit washed out.  The card has a circle cutout of Saddle Cardstock and backed with the watercolor paper.  After we painted it we let it dry and then stamped Hello from the new For Family (C1633) stamp set.

We use the same techniques on this card but used the Happy stamp from Happy to be Friends (C1605).  We used the watercolor paint inside and after allowing it to dry stamped "anniversary" to complete the card.  If you have not yet tried using the watercolors, you should give them a try.  If you are near York, PA this weekend, we will be at the Heirloom Productions Stamp Show and "Little" Debi will be teaching the watercolor cards at our make and take table.  Please stop by and say hi.

Now it is time to hop to Joyce's Blog to see what she has created this month.
