Joyful Stars May Blog Hop

Welcome to the Joyful Stars blog hop this month.  If you have come from my friend Joyce's blog, then you are on the right track.  Spring has finally arrived here in the northeast so I'm in the mood for flowers.   The colors in Close to My Heart's new Blossom Paper Pack, X7196B, are perfect for any Spring project. The card base which is a flower pot, is simple to make.  I have seen many versions of this card.  The dimensions used here allow the card to fit in a standard A2 size envelope.  This card would make a great get well card too.

The base is a piece of background and texture paper cut 3 1/2" x 7" and scored at 2 3/4" from one end and scored 1 1/2" from the other end.  Then fold as shown below.
Use the Scallop Border Punch  Z1851 to add a scallop edge to the 1 1/2" edge.
With the card folded, measure  3/8" from each edge and cut on the diagonal to create the pot shape.

Fold the card base and tie a ribbon around the top edge of the flower pot.  No gluing necessary!  (Ribbon from JoAnn Fabrics)
The insert is white cardstock cut 3 3/4" x 2 1/4" adhered to a piece of
Sweet Leaf Cardstock cut 4" x 2 1/2".  Then just add flowers. to the top of the insert.  I added some to the edge of the pot too.  The flowers are made using C1612 Shower Flowers, C1538 Girls Rock and the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.  The insert is stamped using D1560 Holiday Tags.

This photo shows each piece separately.
Simply slide the insert into the flower pot and Ta Da - your card is complete!
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you for hopping with us this month.
Now it is time to hop on over to my friend Krista's Blog to see her wonderful creation.

Joyful Stars April Blog Hop

Happy Spring and welcome to the Joyful Stars April Blog Hop.  If you have arrived here from Joyce's Blog, then you are on the right track.  It is a circular blog, so you can start anywhere along the way and click through until you arrive back at the first blog.  Today, I made a Thank You card using a background from the CTMH Artbooking Cartridge.  This cartridge was primarily designed to make scrapbooking layouts and mini albums, however, many of the elements are great for other projects too.  You can see another card using an overlay from Artbooking HERE.

The white lattice is found on page 50 in the Artbooking Booklet.  It is cut at 8" Relative dial size and it fits perfectly across the card.  The other elements are found on the Art Philosophy Cartridge.  The flowers are on page 50 and cut at 1/2" in Sorbet Cardstock.  The leaves and branch are found on page 35.  The sentiment frame is on page 25 was cut at 1 1/2" in White Cardstock and then again at 1 3/4" in Glacier Cardstock. The stamp set is D1542 "For A Friend".

Thank you for joining us today.
Now it is time to hop to Krista's Blog to see her wonderful creation.
If you are local to Southeast PA, check out the events tab - there are two all day crops coming up.  One on May 2 to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day and one on June 6 to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.  Seating is limited so reserve your spot soon!

Leprechaun Card for St. Patrick's Day

Welcome to the Joyful Stars March Blog Hop. If you came from Jolene's Paper Trail Blog you are on the right track. It is a circular hop so you can start anywhere, but you can find a complete list of blog participants on Joyce's Blog.  Today, I am sharing a card made for St. Patrick's Day.  It was inspired by samples on Pinterest.

It is a standard 5 1/2" by 4 1/4" card   It uses one of the Pocket Cards on the Artfully Sent Cartridge and and many basic cuts from three CTMH cartridges.  The cartridges and cuts are listed below:

Art Philosophy
Pg 41 Circle 3  (scallop circle) cut 2 ¾” in Hopscotch Sunset B & T (hair)
Pg 21 Circle cut 2 ¼” in Colonial White (face)
Pg 21 Circle cut .30" in Black Cardstock (eyes)(Must change the sizing to 1/10")
Pg 21 Circle cut ¼” in Pink Cardstock (nose)
Artiste
Pg 67 “Accent 2” Moustache cut ½” In Hopscotch Sunset B & T
Artfully Sent
Pg 39 “Icon Shift” (hat, moustache, bow tie) cut 4” real dial size in Topiary CS
(**I did not use this moustache because it was too large for the face**)
Pg 8 “Icon” cut ¾” Shamrock in Pear Cardstock
Pg 8 “Pocket Card”  cut 3 ½” in Pear Cardstock
Use Alcohol markers GY234 Leaf Green and GY235 Sap Green to draw lines on Colonial White Cardstock.  Cut 1” strips and adhere to bottom of card front.
Now, it is time to hop on over to my friend,  Krista's Blog to see her creation.  Happy Hopping!

All Occasion Cards

Here are two simple cards that can be used for almost any occasion.  I like to have a few cards like this on hand because I can easily personalize them with a message on the front or inside.  The first card uses Skylark paper.  (Sorry, it has been discontinued)  But you could use any paper you have on hand.  The background paper could be random stamped as well.  It uses two stamp sets featured in the Seasonal Expressions 1.  The flowers, leaves and vase are from C1603 A Bunch of Thanks.  The "So Sorry" is from C1605 Happy To Be Friends.  Both sets are very versatile and can be used for many different occasions.
The second card uses the Balloon Ride paper (also discontinued) and the same stamp sets.  The texture on the Sorbet background  was created using the Cuttlebug "Birds and Swirls" Embossing Folder.  I just love the delicate look of the vines on this folder.

 Happy Stamping!
