Sneak Peek - Lollydoodle Valentine Card

Here is a card I made using the brand new LollyDoodle paper pack.   The colors are fun and vibrant and remind me of Spring.  I have been hoping that Spring is "right around the corner",  however,  I'm not so sure looking out my window tonight at the 9+ inches of new fallen snow!  I will have samples of some of the new products at my Open House this Friday and Saturday.  See the Events tab for more information or see my blog post for more information.

The stamp is from the Cloud Nine Cardmaking Kit.  It is only available until January 31st or while supplies last - so hurry and get yours while it is still available!  You can get this exclusive kit for $15 (retail value $46) with a qualifying purchase of $35 or more (excluding tax and shipping) during January in celebration of National Papercrafting Month. Make 10 adorable cards (2 each of 5 designs) with funky messages to put any recipient on cloud nine! You can add one cardmaking kit for every $35 in your order*. New Consultants who enroll in January will receive a FREE Cloud Nine cardmaking kit when they have submitted total personal sales of $300 or more**.

Sneak Peek - Ivy Lane Valentine Card

Here is a sneak peek at some brand new products you will see at my Open House next Friday and Saturday.  They are from the Close To My Heart Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book. The card uses the  new Ivy Lane paper pack.  The colors are beautiful and include 2 new shades of cardstock - Ivy Lane Green and Ivy Lane Purple.

The card also uses the February Stamp of the Month - Wild About Love. It is a set of nine stamps including 4 fox stamps, 3 sayings and 3 accents.  In the set, the fox is holding a flower, but I stamped the heart and added it to the stem instead of the flower.  He had googly eyes too!

Here is the inside of the card.  It uses one of the sayings in the set stamped in White Daisy Pigment Ink on a black heart.

Joyful Stars January Blog Hop

  photo JoyfulStarsBlogHopBadge3_zpsa824a544.jpg

Happy New Year!  I wish you a health, happiness and plenty of crafty time this year. Thanks for taking time to follow our blog hop this month.  If you have come from  Lori's Blog, then you are on the right track.  If you ever get lost along the way, just hop over to Joyce's Blog where you will find the entire list of hoppers.
Today I have a Valentine project for you.  I saw this cute owl treat holder on Pinterest a few weeks ago and finally had time to try it.  Ashley at Joyfully Jensen has a tutorial so I won't bore you with all the details.
Since Close To My Heart does not have a traditional paper for Valentine's Day, I decided to use the purple, gold and black from our Laughing Lola  (X7170B) paper pack.  There are two paper packs in the new Spring/ Summer Idea Book that would be perfect for Valentine cards or layouts.  Be sure to check out the new "Ivy Lane" and "Lollydoodle" papers if you prefer pink.
Since I saw this before Christmas, I saved the empty wrapping paper cardboard tubes and also paper towel tubes to make this project.  Cut the tube 5" in length and cover it with the decorative paper. This is just the perfect size for a mini pack of M & M's.  Fold down one side of the top and then the other to make the ears.

Isn't he too cute?  I used the Art Philosophy Cartridge to cut the heart from page 26 of the booklet at 2"  and the circles on page 21 in Black cardstock.  The googly eyes are 15mm, but you can adjust the size of the black circle and eyes to the size of your owl.  The wings are cut freehand in another Lola Background and Texture paper and glued to the tube using Liquid Glass.  Whenever I need to make sure something does not come apart, I use Liquid Glass.
Print the sentiment on plain white copy paper and trace the 1 1/2" size of the heart on page 26, aligning the wording in the center of the heart.  Use the Lagoon Baker's Twine under the wings to make it look like the owl is holding the heart.  The beak was cut in Laughing Lola Gold.

Be sure to stop back next month when we will be showcasing products from our new Spring/Summer Idea Book.  Now it is off to  Joyce's Blog for more crafty inspiration.

Happy New Year

I hope you have enjoyed the holiday season with your family and friends. Both of my sons were home for an extended Christmas vacation so we have spent a lot of time catching up.  And of course we had quite a few family events to attend over the holidays.
Check out this Close To My Heart National Papercrafting Month special.  You can get an exclusive Cloud Nine cardmaking kit for $15 (retail value $46) with a qualifying purchase of $35 or more (excluding tax and shipping) during January in celebration of National Papercrafting Month.

Be sure to call me to place your order so you can get your Cloud Nine kit!

With all the holiday visiting (and trying to keep my dining room clean), I started to have "stamp withdrawl".  So I enjoyed it when my son decided to use my supplies yesterday to make door decorations for the new semester.  He is an RA and one of his responsibilities is to make a decorative "nameplate" to put on each student's door.  He used a snowman image from the "Christmas Cheer"  Cricut cartridge.  He used CTMH Sky paper for the background and embossed it using a snowflake embossing folder.  Then he sanded the paper to expose the white core of the sky cardstock. He chose to use the red stripe from the Sparkle and Shine pack for the scarf.  He is going to add a banner with each student's name before attaching it to the door.  They would make a cute card or an addition to a winter scrapbook layout too.
 He made 42 of them!

Be sure to check out my January Events page for information on the FREE All Day Crop on January 18 and my Open House on January 24 and 25.  Please RSVP and come join in the fun!

Joyful Stars December Blog Hop

photo JoyfulStarsBlogHopBadge3_zpsa824a544.jpgWelcome to the Joyful Stars December Blog Hop.  I'm so glad you are able to take some time during this busy season to hop with us!  If you have come from Lori's Blog, then you are on the right track.  If you ever have trouble with a link, then you can find the entire list on Joyce's Blog.
Our theme this month is a Christmas/Holiday project so I made a Christmas card to share with you.  It is a monochromatic card - shades of creme and tans.  It gives a simple, yet elegant look to the card.  Since it is not the traditional red and green card, you can use this for just another occasion just by changing the sentiment!

The Colonial White card base is 5 x 7,  with layers of Cashmere and Frosted Background and Texture Paper.  The poinsettia is made by threading the Color Ready Seam Binding through holes that were punched in a 2" Champagne circle.

Punch 7 evenly spaced holes around the circle.  Punch the center hole a little larger.

Begin threading the seam binding up through the center hole and then down though one of the outer holes.  Then thread the seam binding back up through the center hole and down through the next outer hole.  Continue until you have created all the flower petals.  Secure the ends of the seam binding in the back using glue dots.
ALL CRICUT CUTS WERE MADE WITH THE ARTBOOKING CARTRIDGE AND THE MACHINE SET AT REAL DIAL SIZE.  The circle is on page 83 (Border Shift).  The doily frame around the flower is Photo Mat 2 on page 61 of the Booklet and was cut at 3 1/4" in Colonial White Cardstock.  The word Joy is a title on page 74 of the Booklet is cut at 1 3/4" in Colonial White Cardstock.

Here is the list of Close To My Heart products used to make the card.

 1388      Colonial White Cardstock
X5931    Champagne Cardstock
X5932     Cashmere Cardstock
X7175B  Frosted Background and Texture Paper
