New Artbooking Blog Hop

The new Artbooking Cricut Cartridge is one of those tools you "have to have".   To showcase all the great projects,  I joined a new blog hop called Artbooking in August!  New projects will be posted each Monday in August.    There will be over 40 blogs for you to visit so you will have plenty of inspiration using the new Artbooking Cricut cartridge from Close To My Heart.  
So here is a "sneak peek" at a layout I "copied".  My friend, Joyce and I were "playing" with the cartridge this week.  This is almost like Joyce's layout except I added the little heart in the word "love".  Remember what they say - "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"!  So Joyce, I hope you are flattered!

 The background is white daisy cardstock.  The "overlay" was cut in Outdoor Denim cardstock,  the photo frames are Lagoon cardstock and the birds and words are Honey cardstock.  This layout is so easy to make using this new cartridge.  The shapes on each page are linked so if you want to make a scrapbook page, you set your machine to 11" and all the images are sized to fit the layout.  Then just add your photos!  Easy peezy!

Joyful Stars July Blog Hop

Welcome to our July Blog Hop.  I'm so happy you decided to join us!  If you have come from Krista's Blog, you are on the right track.  This month, I made a shaped card using the soon to be discontinued Later Sk8r paper pack.  This paper is perfect for all your "guy" scrapbook pages and cards.  Get yours before July 31st, when it will be retired.
If you like to make cards, then you have to check out the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cartridge.  There are 100 different cards that you can cut with the AP Cartridge!  No more boring A2 size cards.  Check out all the cards you can make here: Cricut Collections.  From there, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "Art Philosophy Shape Index".

This is a great masculine card.

The card is on page 48 of the Art Philosophy booklet.  Cut the card at 5 1/2" in Whisper Cardstock.

Cut a strip of Later Sk8r Background and Texture Paper 5 1/2" x 1 1/4".

Cut another strip of Later Sk8r Background and Texture Paper 3 1/4" x 3/4".  Cut a "V" on one end and sponge the edges with Slate Ink.  Cut a circle from page 21 of the AP booklet at 2 3/4" from Later Sk8r Background and Texture Paper.  Using the Artiste Cartridge, cut the gear on page 39 of the booklet in Slate Cardstock.  The gear is Accent 2 (shift) @4 3/4".

 Adhere the large strip of B & T paper to the bottom of the card front.  Trim to match card shape and using gear as a pattern, trim the partial circle from the strip.  That way it will not be visible once you adhere the gear.

Sponge inside and outside edges of the gear with Slate Ink.  Put narrow strips of mounting tape around inside circle and adhere to the card front.  Adhere B & T circle inside of the gear.  Stamp "Birthday Greetings" from D1514 - Just a Number on the small strip of B & T using Outdoor Denim Ink.  Using mounting tape, adhere the  small strip to the card front.

Stamp card inside using D1475 Card Chatter Birthday stamp set using Outdoor Denim and Pear Ink.  Random stamp one of the gears inside the card using Outdoor Denim Ink.  Random stamp a different gear using second generation technique in Slate Ink.

This card requires a 5 x 7 envelope using these measurements.  Stamp the envelope using B1514 In Gear using Outdoor Denim, Pear and Slate Ink.  Use second generation stamping technique with the Slate Ink.

NEW Cricut Cartridge!

I have some exciting news to share with you!  Close To My Heart is having our annual convention this week in sunny Florida.  Even though I will be attending my niece's wedding this weekend instead of the convention, my friends have been sharing much of the excitement with me.  The most exciting news is that Close To My Heart will have a new Cricut Cartridge called Artbooking.  It will be available starting August 1, 2013.  Stay tuned for more details.

Friends of mine, Erin and Laurie, are sponsoring a crop and Vendor Fair on Sunday July 21, 2013.  All of the profits will benefit their Relay For Life Team.  Relay for Life is sponsored by the American Cancer Society.  Just think, an entire day of uninterrupted crafting!  What could be better than that you ask?  Well, shopping at the vendor fair. of course!.  A delicious lunch is included.  Please come and bring your friends and family to support this great cause.  Pre-registration is required because space is limited to 36 croppers.

Joyful Stars June Blog Hop

Welcome to the Joyful Stars Blog Hop.  I'm so happy you decided visit and hope that you get some great new ideas as you hop along.  If you have come from Elizabeth Mindemann's Blog, then you are on the right track.  This is our very first month and our theme  is "Anything Goes".  I made a Birthday card using the beautiful "Claire Paper Pack" and the "Girl's Rock" stamp set.

This card is a version of the pattern "Cubes and Colors" on page 11 of the "Originals" Card Confidence Book.

ABOVE:  Start with a Colonial White card base. This card uses a technique called "second generation" stamping to make the background.   Ink the medium flower image with Sorbet Ink and stamp it onto scrap paper first, then onto the card base. The image will be lighter on the card base.  This creates a soft muted background that will not compete with our focal image.  If you stamp both first and second generation images on the same project, it will create depth and shades of the same color. Use this technique to create your own "designer paper"!  Concentrate the stamping in the center of the card. The background paper will cover both edges.                                                                                           
BELOW:  Then ink the small flower in Outdoor Denim Ink and use the same technique.  Just fill in open spots and be sure to stamp some half on and half off the card.
   

Next you will work on the card borders.  Cut a strip of background paper 1 1/2" wide.  Cut a strip of Outdoor Denim cardstock 1/2" wide.  Adhere the Outdoor Denim strip under the patter strip leaving about 1/8" showing.

Adhere the strips along both the top and bottom edges.

This is the Girl’s Rock Stamp Set.  Take a look at the plastic carrier sheet that holds the stamps.  Notice the word “Art Philosophy” at the bottom right.  This indicates the images with the solid outline can be cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge.  If you like flowers, this is the perfect stamp set and cartridge for you.  No more cutting out flowers!  You will notice the size and page number next to each cuttable image.  This makes it so easy to find the image on your cartridge and tells you the size to cut the image to fit the stamp.  After you cut the image, just ink up the stamp and stamp the images.  How easy is that?

 Cut the images shown and then ink them as follows:  Stamp the large colonial white flower using Sorbet Ink.  Stamp the small flower and leaves using Outdoor Denim ink.  

 It is so easy to add color with Close To My Heart coordinating stamps.

Using 1/2" circle punch, punch out the center of one of the flowers on the reverse side of the background and texture paper.

Layer the stamped flower pieces together.

 Add mounting tape to the back of the large stamped flower and adhere to the sorbet flower.

Add completed flower and leaves to card front as desired.  For a little added dimension, add liquid glass to the flower center.  Allow to dry for 3 - 4 hours.

 Stamp the sentiment inside and second generation flower images to coordinate with the the card front.

Stamp your envelope with both first and second generation flowers.  You can even coordinate the postage stamp.  Right now, these beautiful Vintage Seed Packet stamps are available at the Post Office.

Chantilly Card Class

This is just a reminder that the Chantilly Card Class is scheduled for Monday June 24 from 6:30 to 9PM.  The location is Bethel Hill United Methodist Church, 2000 Bethel Road, Lansdale, PA 19446.  Enjoy yourself while learning new stamping techniques.  Here are samples of the cards and the completed project.  Everything will be pre-cut for you.  All you need to do is stamp, embellish, glue and "voila" you have a beautiful gift!
