All Occasion Cards

Here are two simple cards that can be used for almost any occasion.  I like to have a few cards like this on hand because I can easily personalize them with a message on the front or inside.  The first card uses Skylark paper.  (Sorry, it has been discontinued)  But you could use any paper you have on hand.  The background paper could be random stamped as well.  It uses two stamp sets featured in the Seasonal Expressions 1.  The flowers, leaves and vase are from C1603 A Bunch of Thanks.  The "So Sorry" is from C1605 Happy To Be Friends.  Both sets are very versatile and can be used for many different occasions.
The second card uses the Balloon Ride paper (also discontinued) and the same stamp sets.  The texture on the Sorbet background  was created using the Cuttlebug "Birds and Swirls" Embossing Folder.  I just love the delicate look of the vines on this folder.

 Happy Stamping!

Joyful Stars February Blog Hop

I'm so glad you could join our February Blog Hop.  If you have come from Krista's blog, then you are on the right track.  Visit Joyce's blog see a compete list of participants.  Today I have a scrapbook page made using "leftover" pieces from some Valentine cards.  The card was the one you saw  HERE on the December Hop.  It uses the Heartstrings Paper pack.

Here is a photo of what was "leftover"  on the mat after cutting the inside of the card.

It looked so pretty and elegant laying there on the mat that I just could not bear to just throw it away!  Since the pattern was intricate, I decided to try Transfer Tape.  It is a product made by Cricut and is sold on a 12" roll, just like Cricut Vinyl.

I cut a 6" square piece and peeled the tape back from the release liner.

Then, I applied the tape with the sticky side down onto the filigree heart on the Cricut mat and rub it onto the mat.   You can use a bone folder to burnish.  The next step is a bit tricky - it takes a bit of patience.  Flip it over so your Cricut Mat is on top and then carefully and slowly peel off the tape and roll the mat to help the filigree heart to come off with the tape.  Work slowly and if a piece seems to be sticking to the mat, you can use your fingernail or the Cricut spatula to help remove it.
Once removed, the heart will be attached to the transfer tape.  It will look like this - the reverse side of the B & T is now facing out.  Now you simply put adhesive on the heart pieces and flip it back over onto your desired surface.

Ta Da!  You now have a lovely filigree heart to use on a new project.

This one is on white cardstock.

This one is on Cotton Candy Cardstock, highlighted with the journaling pen and fussy cut.

Here is the layout inspired by the filigree heart:

Hopscotch Flip Flap Layout

Here is a layout using Hopscotch, the fun paper in Seasonal Expressions 1.  The colors in the paper are very versatile and would work for many different events.  It can look very "girly" by using more pink paper and yet it can look more masculine by using more blue paper.
There is a 4" x 12" flip flap on the left side of the left page and there is an 8" x 12"flip flap on the right side of the right page.

Here is a look with the flip flaps open:

Here are close ups of each page individually:

 Left side:

 Right side:
The layout uses the WOTG stamp set and the Hopscotch Complements. It showcases 13 photos plus space for journaling on the left flip flap.  If you need space for additional photos you could add  4" x 6" flip flaps on top of any of the 4" x 6" photos.

Artfully Sent Swing Card

Here is a fun birthday card using the fabulous Confetti Wishes paper.  It is the "Scene" card on page 30 of the Artfully Sent booklet.  Both pieces are cut at the recommended 7 inches.  The card base is cut in Thistle CS and the inside piece is Confetti Wishes B & T.  I did not try this card at a smaller size - the candle cuts are narrow so it may be too intricate to cut well at the smaller size.

I wanted a colorful card so I backed the cut out candles with Pear and Pacifica CS and the stripe pattern of the Confetti paper.
I added more color on the inside too by tracing the frame shape and fussy cut it from Thistle paper.   The sentiment is from B1467 You Mean the World to Me.  Please contact me if you have any questions or need help with anything.

January 2015 Joyful Stars Blog Hop

Happy New Year!  Welcome to the Joyful Stars Blog Hop. Thank you for joining us.  If you arrived here from Krista's Blog, then you are on the right track.  It is a circular hop so you can start anywhere and stop when you return to the first blog.  However, you can go to Joyce's Blog if you would like to see the complete list of participants.  I have finally had a little time to play with my ShinHan markers.  They are alcohol based markers with both a broad and fine tip and come in 24 colors.  You can use these markers on many different surfaces that you could not color with a regular water based marker.   One of my favorite uses has been coloring bling and accessories to match cards and scrapbook pages.  Today, I decided to try them on a piece of acetate.  I wanted to use the new Hopscotch paper pack, so I chose three colors (R140 Light Orange, R11 Carmine, B62 Marine Blue) to match/blend with the colors in the pack.  First, I used the Chevron Embossing folder and embossed the piece of acetate.  The acetate I used was a piece of packaging that I saved.  It looked like this after embossing:
It was difficult to photograph due to the reflection of the acetate.

Then, I colored the raised part of the embossed design using the ShinHan markers.
I also used the colorless blending marker.  It allows you to "remove" color if make a mistake or the color gets too dark.  I attached the acetate to a Colonial White card using Liquid Glass.  The word HAPPY is stamped directly on the Colonial White card.  The bird was stamped on Colonial White Cardstock, cut out and adhered to the acetate using Liquid Glass.  The stamps are from the set C1600 Happy Birds.  I guess you noticed by now, that I never did use any Hopscotch paper!  It looked too busy with the colored chevrons so I changed my original design.  But that is fine because I still
have a small piece of acetate left when I trimmed it to fit the card.  So now I get to "play" with that and incorporate it on another project!
Now it is time for you to "HOP" to Cindy's Blog to see what she has created this month.
