Artbooking in August Blog Hop Week Two

Welcome to week two of Artbooking in August.  I'm glad you decide to stop by - I'm sure you will be inspired by over 35 talented Close To My Heart Consultants.  If you have come from Polly's Blog, you are on the right track.  Remember this is a circular blog hop and if you get lost or confused along the way, the list is posted on Adeline's blog here.
The Artbooking Cartridge has so many images that is is difficult to choose!  This week, I made a Christmas ornament.  It would look cute as a package tag too.  Now is the time to get a head start on your holiday projects!
Check out page 56 of the Artbooking Booklet.  The Icon image is a Christmas ball ornament. I cut that image in silver glitter paper at 4 1/4" (real dial size).  Then I cut Photo Mat 2 on page 80 at 3" (real dial size) in White Daisy cardstock.  The penguin is from the Hostess Rewards stamp set - C1560.  He is stamped using black ink and then again using Crystal Blue Ink.  The scarf and ear muffs are paper pieced and mounted onto the penguin using mounting tape, giving some dimension to the penguin.  I used the CTMH Silver Metallic Pen to accent the scarf and top band on the ear muffs. The snowball is covered in Prisma Glitter.  My original idea was to make a "shaker" type ornament so I punched a 2 1/2 circle from a piece of  transparency film and mounted it under the white doily piece.  Then I added a little prisma glitter to the inside before I completely sealed it with Liquid Glass.  However, the glitter paper is so "sparkly" that you can't really see the glitter on the inside.  So if you want to make something similar, you can easily skip that step or use regular cardstock so there is contrast between the cardstock and glitter.

I wanted to add a tag with a sentiment from the new Holiday Tags D1560 set on page 105 of the new Idea Book.   This set is perfect to add a sentiment to all those little gift bags or boxes.  The AP cartridge is usually my "go to cartridge" for tags, but I really wanted to find something I could use from the Artbooking cartridge.   Photo Mat 1 on page 83 is shaped like a tag and so I cut it at 1" (real dial size) in White Daisy and layered it onto Crystal Blue cut  about 1/8" larger all around.  The "Happy Holidays sentiment is heat embossed on the mini tag using silver powder.  The tag is tied onto the bow using Grey Baker's Twine. The bow is CTMH Color Ready Seam Binding colored with Crystal Blue Ink.  I "crumpled" the ribbon and let it dry before making the bow.  This product is so versatile - it will match every project because it can become any color ribbon.

Thank you for stopping by our blog hop. OK, now it is off to Jean's Blog, Stamping Maui, to see her beautiful creation for this week.  Happy Hopping!

Joyful Stars August Blog Hop

Welcome to the Joyful Stars Blog Hop and to the brand new products in the Fall & Winter Idea Book.   If you have just visited Elizabeth's Blog , then you are on the right track.
I have been having fun "playing" with the new Artbooking Cricut cartridge and have a card to show you.  This cartridge has so many possibilities it is mind boggling! It is a very simple card - the Artbooking Cartridge did all the work.

I used the overlay (shift) on page 63 of the Artbooking Booklet cut at 4" in Colonial White.  Then I cut 2 strips of Goldrush and Outdoor Denim.  For the middle section, I cut Autumn Terracotta.  The overlay was mounted on Autumn Terracotta Cardstock.  The stamp is the new "Heartfelt Birthday Wish" on page 113 of the new Fall-Winter Idea Book using Black StazOn Ink.  The coloring was done using the Ombre technique.  Using the waterbrush or blending pen, pick up some ink (using the lightest color first) from the lid of the stamp pad.  Then color in the open letters gradually getting darker and darker.  I used Honey, Goldrush, Autumn Terracotta and Outdoor Denim Inks.

Artbooking in August Blog Hop Week One - Two Page Layout

Welcome to the Artbooking in August Blog Hop! I'm so glad you decided to join us.  If you arrived from Polly's Blog, then you are on the right track.  With over 700 images on this cartridge you may find it hard to choose where to start!  This layout utilizes the Chantilly paper pack and uses the overlay and photo mat 1 on page 85 of the Artbooking Booklet.  They were cut two times - once in buttercup at the recommended 11" and then again in white daisy at 11.5".  The edges of the buttercup frames were sponged using Buttercup Ink.  The buttercup frames were stamped using images from "A Garden" A1119 in Buttercup Ink.  It does not show well in the photo, but it is very subtle and looks similar to a watermark.  The buttercup and white frames were layered using mounting tape.  Again, it is difficult to see in the photo, however the mounted frames have more depth in person.

Page one uses the alphabet on the cartridge. The letters M and y were cut in Cotton Candy at 1.75" with the machine set at real dial size.  All of the elements on each page are linked - that means you set the machine at the recommended size and cut all the elements from the same page at that size.   The banner "sweet" is a title on page 49 and was cut in Cotton Candy at 11".

Page 2 utilizes the title "XOXO" from page 48 in Cotton Candy, but I don't remember the size.  The "baby girl" was cut at 11" in Chantilly texture paper.  It is also a "title" and it is found on page 84 of the booklet.  I sponged the edges with Cotton Candy Ink.  I embellished the letter i using our bitty sparkles.  Additional embellishments include Creme Brulee Baker's Twine, Small Sparkle Flourishes and the metal heart that says love from the Base and Bling Word Accents.  For more depth and dimension, all the cut elements were mounted to the layout using mounting tape.  You may leave a comment if you have any questions and I will get right back to you.

This layout was very easy to put together using the Artbooking Cartridge!   Now hop on over to check out Jean's creation.

New Artbooking Blog Hop

The new Artbooking Cricut Cartridge is one of those tools you "have to have".   To showcase all the great projects,  I joined a new blog hop called Artbooking in August!  New projects will be posted each Monday in August.    There will be over 40 blogs for you to visit so you will have plenty of inspiration using the new Artbooking Cricut cartridge from Close To My Heart.
So here is a "sneak peek" at a layout I "copied".  My friend, Joyce and I were "playing" with the cartridge this week.  This is almost like Joyce's layout except I added the little heart in the word "love".  Remember what they say - "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"!  So Joyce, I hope you are flattered!

The background is white daisy cardstock.  The "overlay" was cut in Outdoor Denim cardstock,  the photo frames are Lagoon cardstock and the birds and words are Honey cardstock.  This layout is so easy to make using this new cartridge.  The shapes on each page are linked so if you want to make a scrapbook page, you set your machine to 11" and all the images are sized to fit the layout.  Then just add your photos!  Easy peezy!
This layout is on page 59 of the Artbooking Booklet.

Be sure to stop back on August 4th to see more beautiful artwork.

Joyful Stars July Blog Hop

Welcome to our July Blog Hop.  I'm so happy you decided to join us!  If you have come from Krista's Blog, you are on the right track.  This month, I made a shaped card using the soon to be discontinued Later Sk8r paper pack.  This paper is perfect for all your "guy" scrapbook pages and cards.  Get yours before July 31st, when it will be retired.
If you like to make cards, then you have to check out the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy Cartridge.  There are 100 different cards that you can cut with the AP Cartridge!  No more boring A2 size cards.  Check out all the cards you can make here: Cricut Collections.  From there, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on "Art Philosophy Shape Index".

This is a great masculine card.

The card is on page 48 of the Art Philosophy booklet.  Cut the card at 5 1/2" in Whisper Cardstock.
Cut a strip of Later Sk8r Background and Texture Paper 5 1/2" x 1 1/4".

Cut another strip of Later Sk8r Background and Texture Paper 3 1/4" x 3/4".  Cut a "V" on one end and sponge the edges with Slate Ink.  Cut a circle from page 21 of the AP booklet at 2 3/4" from Later Sk8r Background and Texture Paper.  Using the Artiste Cartridge, cut the gear on page 39 of the booklet in Slate Cardstock.  The gear is Accent 2 (shift) @4 3/4".

Adhere the large strip of B & T paper to the bottom of the card front.  Trim to match card shape and using gear as a pattern, trim the partial circle from the strip.  That way it will not be visible once you adhere the gear.

Sponge inside and outside edges of the gear with Slate Ink.  Put narrow strips of mounting tape around inside circle and adhere to the card front.  Adhere B & T circle inside of the gear.  Stamp "Birthday Greetings" from D1514 - Just a Number on the small strip of B & T using Outdoor Denim Ink.  Using mounting tape, adhere the  small strip to the card front.

Stamp card inside using D1475 Card Chatter Birthday stamp set using Outdoor Denim and Pear Ink.  Random stamp one of the gears inside the card using Outdoor Denim Ink.  Random stamp a different gear using second generation technique in Slate Ink.

This card requires a 5 x 7 envelope using these measurements.  Stamp the envelope using B1514 In Gear using Outdoor Denim, Pear and Slate Ink.  Use second generation stamping technique with the Slate Ink.

Thanks so much for joining us this month.  Now hop on over to Jean's Blog to see her beautiful creation.  Happy Hopping!
You may have noticed my blog looks much different than last time you visited.   It is still "under construction".   I have been having a great time working with Becky from The Cutest Blog on the Block.  Be sure to stop back later in the month when it will be completely finished and I will be sponsoring a contest with prizes!
